Before we can delve into the tips of fixing a steamy mirror, it's first important to understand how mirrors get misty and steamy in the first place. Whilst you are taking your hot bath or shower, your bathroom will be slowly filling up with hot moisture (condensation). When this comes into contact with the cool surface of your bathroom mirror, it creates a thin layer of fog.

Whilst this next tip may sound strange, don’t bash it until you've tried it! It really does work wonders to stop your bathroom mirrors from steaming up. To do this, simply apply a thin layer of shaving foam on your bathroom mirrors. Make sure you spread it evenly all over!
Then, wipe dry with a clean, soft cloth until you can see your reflection normally again. This method should be effective for around 1-2 weeks before it starts to lose effectiveness. Then, you’ll just need to reapply again.
Be careful with this method however, as if you apply too much shaving foam to your mirror, it will leave streaks behind on your mirror and you won’t have the same results.
Tip 3: Vinegar
Vinegar isn't just a kitchen essential and great for fish and chips! It can actually be used in your bathroom to keep misty mirrors under control. Make a small mixture containing half vinegar and half water. Apply the solution with a clean cloth, then use another (different) clean cloth to wipe it away until there are no streaks left.
While this may only work for just under a week, it is definitely a cheap and effective method to stop your bathroom mirrors from steaming up every time you use the bathroom.
This method may leave a faint smell behind for roughly an hour after application. To counteract this, squeeze some lemon or lime into the mixture to give it a fresher scent that is perfect for your bathroom.
Tip 4: Washing Up Liquid
If you’re looking for another method that involves using handy and widely-available items in the house, this next tip is perfect for you. For this method, treat your mirror as if it were a glass bowl that you find in the kitchen.
Apply a small amount of washing up liquid to a damp, clean cloth then simply wipe across your bathroom mirrors. Use a different, dry cloth to wipe it all away and dry your mirror, ensuring you’ve gotten rid of all the streaks and residue. This method usually only lasts around a day, but it is certainly effective in this time!
